A Paper Plane, like life, is unpredictable. It can soar into the air, zig zag in all sorts of directions, or nose dive into the ground, and rarely goes where you want it to. Crammed with metaphors and analogies, the album is themed around the unpredictability of life and takes you on a ride through its struggles, triumphs, disappointments and regrets. At its heart is the desire and determination to break free from the constraints that hold you back, many of which are built in your own mind.

Nothing Matters Anymore: a lonesome and haunting song that deals with the heartbreak of losing someone you love.

Bracondale: compares the strength of ancient city walls with the resilience we need so that we can deal with the challenges and criticisms thrown at us.

Drifter: a more autobiographical song, expresses the feeling of being caught between yearning and aspiration, conforming, and trying to find a place in the world.

Irene: makes a comparison between the devastation that Hurricane Irene caused when it hit America in 2011 with the destructive influence of a tempestuous and spiteful woman.

Leaves on the Line: Rail commuters in the UK often curse train delays caused by autumn leaves falling on the line. Here, the phrase is an analogy for the anxieties we suffer or excuses we make for our own failings or to justify our actions.

Sleepy Dust: this song reflects the debilitating effect of sleeping too long, and what a struggle it can be to escape the rut of sleeping your life away.

Friend on the Go: a poignant song that grieves for a relationship that will never happen, because diffidence has held you back.

A New Day: is about breaking free, starting afresh and re-building your life. It offers hope in the face of all that has happened.

Paper Plane: the title song brings you full circle. Reminding us that life is unpredictable and never goes where you imagine it will, it also has a positive message. In spite of its ups and downs we should enjoy life, find things to love and laugh about because ultimately the journey is well worthwhile.
